What is Community Supported Farming (CSF)?
Community Supported Farming (CSF) is a collaborative approach to agriculture where local consumer community actively engage in and support farming operations in return of a share of the crop. Unlike traditional farming models, CSF fosters a deeper connection between people and their food sources, making agriculture a shared responsibility rather than just a business transaction.
What are the key benefits of Community Supported Farming (CSF)?
-
Access to Fresh, Healthy Food – Members receive locally grown, often organic, and seasonal produce, ensuring high nutritional value.
-
Education & Awareness – Members learn about sustainable farming, food production, and the importance of supporting local agriculture.
-
Food Security – A reliable, local and trackable food source reduces dependence on industrial food systems and long supply chains.
-
Stronger Farmer-Consumer Relationships – Direct engagement with consumers builds loyalty and long-term support for the farm.
-
Reduction of cost to consumer - Farmers sell directly to the community, eliminating the need for middlemen and additional transportation, thus getting better price for their produces. Simultaneously, the end consumer benefits with a lower rate, and direct access to the crops.
